Bringing the BBQ season to your patio

Fire Up The Grill

The long weekend is fast approaching, and BBQ season is officially upon us. It’s time to dust off the grill and get ready to cook over the open flame.

There is something about food cooked over the hot fire that is comforting and satisfying. As soon as the sun shows its beautiful face, the smell of food being grilled lingers throughout the neighborhood. And the great news is all you need is a little space and a grill of your choice to indulge in this summer novelty.

Getting Creative: More Than Burgers And Steaks

  • Pizza: A smoky spin on a staple. If you haven’t tried grilled pizza yet, you’re missing out. Don’t skimp on the toppings, pretty much anything goes so make sure to experiment and switch things up.
  • Corn-On-The-Cob (Husk On): It truly doesn’t get easier (or tastier) than this. Simply place the corn on the grill, close the lid, give them a turn every five minutes…20 minutes later you’ll have delicious corn that practically falls out of the silk.
  • Grilled Pineapple: This tropical treat doesn’t need any dressing up before grilling. Toss it on a burger or salad, roast them on a skewer or serve them as a summertime side dish.
  • Scrambled Eggs: That’s right. Even breakfast tastes great cooked on the BBQ. Add a skillet or a griddle to the top of your grill, then cook the eggs as usual.

A spacious backyard is not needed in order to create a great grilling environment. Make the most of your deck or patio by picking the right grill and accessories. The key is to create a livable and attractive area that is both eye pleasing and functional.

Where to start:
– Check the rules of your building regarding outdoor grill usage.
– Measure your area before going shopping then buy the largest grill for your space.
– Double check the outlets and hook-ups available.

Take a stroll to your local grocer or butcher and pick up your favourite fresh meat and veggies. Or maybe try something new that you’ve never had before. Grilling is a healthy and delicious way to cook, making it easy to switch it up and experiment with new recipes.

Nothing brings people together quite like the love of food. Condo and townhouse living offers easy access to a community of like-minded people. Why not invite your neighbours over to join you on the patio? You’re sure to enjoy the camaraderie while you cook, and they’ll appreciate the invitation and yummy food.

Living in a small space doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice your love for grilling and entertaining. Work with the room you have and make the most of your summer. Afterall, the season doesn’t last long here in Calgary so take advantage of it while you can.
