Why you should buy?

Happy New Year, everyone! When I look back on purchasing my first home, it seemed like a daunting task. There were so many things I needed to do before the dream would become a reality. All I knew was that taking it step by step was the best way to approach home ownership. I did things a little out of order…  I went home shopping and fell in love with a place before I knew if/how much I would qualify for. Fortunately for me it worked out in the end and I was able to qualify for the mortgage on my own without a co-signer.

Tip for this week? Make sure you do your financial research before you start looking for your any home to purchase, lease or rent. Know your monthly budget that you can be approved for with a mortgage or for rent… and what you will need to pay for taxes, utilities, and support items (new furniture, moving, etc.)

Once the mortgage approval was finalized, it went quickly. I worked out a payment plan with the builder so that I could submit the down payment over the course of construction of my home. Then all I had to do was wait! Looking back, buying was one of the best decisions that I ever made since I was building equity with every mortgage payment.
